I got together with Rob Long, a Tourism and Hospitality teacher (part
of THED network) and and some off his students for a conversation on
learning in an open and networked online environment...
In particular it references

As a first draft this network learning manfesto is based on that
discussion and Kate McIlwain's and Karl Fisch's input. Please provide
feedback and comment in group and on wiki

This is a podcast of the Illawarra T&H teachers reflecting on their learning (27th June) as part of the Tourism and Hospitality Networked Learnscope Project. Here is a synopsis of the 10 min discussion.
Jeanne McCrae- The (Web 2.0) technologies and methods we saw today suit our style off teaching already, particularly struck by the breaking down of barriers to share resources.
Rob Long- Particularly struck by the instantaneous results of using the Web 2.0 technologies. Like the idea of students creating the resources and the teacher as a facilitator to using technologies and learning. MOST IMPORTANTLY we are teaching them how to use tools which are useful for their working lives.
Marcus Testoni- Impressed by collaboration opportunities with other institutes. Concerned that the uptake of a technology for teaching is limited by the learning pace of the slowest learner, talked about how some teachers who do not engage with technology can be inspired by early adopters who are unafraid to have a go.
Bjorn Ulfsson- Struck by the wealth of skills and knowledge and pool of information outside the Illawarra Institute. Has good feeling about possibilities fro project and the sharing attitude. (THANK YOU PETER ENDERBY HUNTER INSTITUTE for being a guest speaker in Skype).
Jayne bachelor- Wants to bring the same wow factor that she got from networked learning methods and web 2.0 technologies to her students
Group then went on to talk about Skype and the brainstorm the opportunities i.e. invite guest big name event management speakers from abroad to talk to their students.
All in all a fun and inspiring first day for the Illawarra THED team.
